When Tammy Jeffery, Boulder Valley School District’s new Director of Health Services, talks about school nursing, she is quick to dispel a common misconception. The work is about far more than bandages and ice packs.
While health room staff provide critical immediate care for students who become sick or injured at school, school nurses have a broader clinical and case-management role.

In September, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced more than 16,000 semifinalists in its 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Forty Boulder Valley School District students made the cut.
